Activate Electronic ID

Regardless if you are planning to take the math placement test, ALL students should activate their Electronic ID.

Activating your Electronic ID grants you access to:

  • Blackboard
  • On-campus computer clusters
  • NDSU email account
  • NDSU library

These instructions are intended ONLY for students who are new to the North Dakota University System. If you have previously activated an Electronic ID with any NDUS campus, please follow this link for alternate instructions.

Separate instructions are also available to allow international students access to math placement instructions. If you are an international student, please follow this link for alternate instructions.

Part A: Activate Your Electronic ID

Step 1: Complete the Web enrollment form.

1. Log on to: http://enroll.nodak.edu

2. Read. Click "Continue."
3. Enter your last name and Emplid under the "I don't know my electronic ID or password" section. Your Emplid is your Campus Connection ID number without the "W". This ID number was included in your acceptance letter from the University. If you do not know this number, please go to Campus Connection and click on "What is My User ID?"

4. Enter your default password. Your initial password will be in the following format: XxxSSYYYY

Xxx - first three letters of your birth month (First letter is capitalized)
SS - middle two numbers of your Social Security number
YYYY - your birth year

If you encounter difficulties with your default password, please contact the NDSU Help Desk at (701) 231-8685.

Step 2: Take the Acceptable Use Quiz

Step 3: Following the quiz, change your password

Step 4: Set up password recovery

1. Choose a question/answer that can be used to change your password.

Please allow one business day to process your account before proceeding to Part B.

Once your account has been activated, you'll need the electronic ID and password you just created in order to log into Blackboard to take the math placement test.

Please continue to part B for instructions on how to log in to Blackboard to take the Math Placement Test.
