ACE Online Tutoring is available for NDSU undergraduate students who are taking online courses from a distance. NDSU students who live on campus or are taking the majority of their courses on-campus and are also taking an online course are encouraged to visit ACE in WDC 6 for face-to-face tutoring assistance. Accommodations may be made for students with special circumstances that do not allow them to visit ACE in person. For questions regarding accommodations, please contact Erika Beseler Thompson at 701.231.5131 or email at Erika.Beseler@ndsu.edu.
ACE Online Tutoring uses Wimba software, which includes a live classroom to give students and tutors real-time interactions with video, voice and an interactive desktop to help facilitate learning at a distance. WIMBA is a free program available via Blackboard, the online classroom used by many NDSU instructors.
Students wishing to participate in online tutoring will need access to a computer with high-speed internet connection. Additionally, it is recommended that students have a webcam and a headset with a microphone to facilitate two-way video and voice conferencing. Students do NOT need to purchase any additional software, as all necessary programs are available free-of-charge.
