Transfer Enrollment Guide

As a transfer student, you have unique needs as you transition to NDSU. The University has created a Transfer Enrollment Guide to walk you through that process. Please click on the icon below for access to helpful information.

Transfer Student Checklist

Prior to Orientation

  • Complete and submit Housing Application
If you are planning to live on campus, an application is available at www.ndsu.edu/reslife.

  • Complete and submit FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
If you wish to apply for financial aid, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov after January 1.

  • Send final transcripts
Official transcripts from all post-secondary course work must be submitted directly to the Office of Admission from the college and/or post-secondary institution. If you have completed less than 60 semester credits (90 quarter) of transferable college work at the time of application, you must also submit official high school transcripts, complete with graduation date.

  • Reserve an Orientation date
Fill out the Reservation Form online or return the form that will be mailed to you.

  • Activate your electronic ID
Follow the instructions for activating your electronic ID.

  • Take the online math placement test
Follow the instructions for logging into Blackboard and taking the Math Placement Test. Please ensure that the math placement test is completed prior to your scheduled orientation.

Call (701) 231-7671 to discuss criteria and procedures for opening a file. Students will need to provide disability documentation from a qualifying professional that includes functional limitations.

Bring to Orientation

  • Campus Connection userID and password
Your userID was included in your acceptance letter from the university. It can also be found by using the "What is my UserID" link on Campus Connection. A password is also needed, which can be found by using the "Forgot My Password" link on Campus Connection. This information will be emailed to you when using these links. If you do not have an email address in Campus Connection, you will be prompted to contact the NDUS Help Desk at (866) 457-6387.

  • Electronic ID and password
Follow the instructions for activating your electronic ID. Your electronic ID allows you access to an NDSU email account, campus computer clusters you'll use to register for classes, and Blackboard to take the online math placement test.

  • Immunization record
If you have not already mailed NDSU your immunization form (you should have received one with your admission letter), bring it with you. If you need another copy of the form, you may access it online at www.ndsu.edu/wellness/shs/Immunization. The State Board of Higher Education requires that students born after 12/31/56 have two doses of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. If you have quesitons, please contact Student Health Service at (701) 231-7331.
